Rockliffe Hall

Luxury North East venue puts The Ritz in the shade

Award-winning golf, spa and leisure resort, Rockliffe Hall is celebrating its most recent award, this time from its toughest critics…the guests!

The five star luxury resort in Hurworth near Darlington has been placed second in the list of the UKs most luxurious hotel destinations by popular review website TripAdvisor. Only the esteemed Dorchester Hotel on London’s Park Lane finishes higher, with Rockliffe Hall putting the likes of The Ritz and Claridge’s firmly in the shade.

Even more incredibly, TripAdvisor’s Travellers Choice Awards has placed Rockliffe Hall as fifth most luxurious venue in Europe and a stunning ninth place in its round up of the world’s most luxurious hotel destinations.  Having recently won Large Hotel of the Year at the North East Tourism Awards, this new addition to their healthy list of accolades is their most welcome yet.

Gold Rush at Weetwood Hall

Weetwood Hall awarded prestigious Investor in People Gold status

Weetwood Hall has become the first hotel in the Yorkshire & Humber to achieve the Investors in People (IIP) Gold status, the most recognised accolade in the UK for business improvement through people. By achieving Gold status Weetwood Hall is now part of the top 1% of UK organisations recognised by IIP.

To achieve IIP gold a rigorous assessment by Investors in People was undertaken reviewing a minimum of 126 evidence requirements over and above the standard level. Weetwood Hall achieved great results and has been advised by Chris Jones, Head of IIP Yorkshire & Humber “During the review, your organisation achieved a total of 166 evidence requirements. Congratulations on this exceptional achievement.”

Gold IIP follows in the footsteps of 2008 AIM Gold accreditation when Weetwood Hall was the first venue in the north and only the fourth at the time, in the country, to achieve this gold accreditation standard from the Meetings Industry Association for its services and facilities relating to the conference centre.

Since then Weetwood Hall has either won or been a finalist in numerous awards such as the White Rose Awards, HRS Marketing Awards, Springboard Awards and the Leeds City in Bloom Awards.

Said Peter Chubb, General Manager of Weetwood Hall, “This is a wonderful achievement that we have strived for over the last six years; we are extremely proud to accept this recognition but fully recognise that it is now our responsibility to ensure we maintain the standard for the future, both for our loyal customers and the team.”

Park Inn becomes “Park Inn by Radisson”

To further accelerate the growth and performance of our mid-market champion, Park Inn, we are taking a bold new step in the brand’s future evolution. As revealed earlier today by Kurt Ritter, our President & CEO, Park Inn will now become “Park Inn by Radisson”.

Endorsing the Park Inn brand through Radisson was a conscious and well-informed decision to build a stronger filial link between Rezidor’s two core brands. Together with our board of directors and other advisors, we considered various options to lift the brand awareness of Park Inn among travellers. After much deliberation, we established that a brand endorsement is the most effective way forward.   (more…)
